Fallout 3 might be one of the most anticipated games to hit the Playstation 3 platform this year, but unfortunately, many gamers have been experiencing problems playing it. We remember how many glitches and bugs Oblivion has when it was first released, and it seems that Fallout 3 has followed in those footsteps.
One of the common issues people are experiencing when playing their Fallout 3 is a lot of texture slowdown, lagging, occasional freezing to a certain point of the game, naming the GOAT test, and of course, the annoying game pausing when someone logs in and out from your friendlist. The XMB issues has been addressed by Bethesda and hopefully we’ll see some action right away.
It seems that every major game release has its own issues: LittleBigPlanet, Socom, Fable 2, and now Fallout 3. Are you experiencing these problems?
For the record, it seems that the XBOX 360 is running more smoothly than the Playstation 3. Hopefully Bethesda will do something about this!

This version suck. Too much aliasing, frame rate drops, too many bugs. And where is 16:9 support? I can’ t stand anymore 4:3.
This game was not ready to get out on market.
Oct 31, 2008 at 20:38:32
There is a section on their site for all three platform issues
http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?s=fa98469adebabe9eac94b4b7982fcc35&showforum=35
________________
a platform by platform breakdown
All platforms
* It is possible to get “stuck” between rocks with no way of escaping (jumping, crouching, etc.) User can fast travel to escape (if no baddies near by.)
* Missing head/face in haircut screen - using the robot in the Megaton house to change appearance, you can still make the change in appearance, but you cannot preview what the change will look like because your face is missing
* No test on desk during G.O.A.T. test.
* Unable to proceed past the book when you are a baby. Fathers leg clip into door.
* During the Big Trouble in Big Town quest, after bringing Red and Shorty back to Big Town, when presented with the option to defend the town by repairing the damaged robots, the game will glitch and the robots will not be in the town. A reload to an earlier save did NOT correct this issue.
* Related to the previous bug: The robots actually flew through the air and died at my feet as I entered the town for the first time. As such, I didn’t know it was a bug that would affect anything… I thought they were just enemy robots.
PC
* after speaking with silver in springvale, cannot find moriarty anywhere
* Sudden crash to desktop without a send/don’t send error report.
* Disk unable to be read, viewed or otherwise seen as media on some DVD drives such as a Sony DRU-720A.
* Game crashing when “New Game” is pressed in the main menu (related to ffdshow - adding fallout3.exe to the exception list off directshow audio/video apparently fixes this, but still remains an issue with others).
* Game crashing when “Play” is pressed in the launcher splash screen (discuss specific issues/solutions on Talk:Fallout_3_bugs).
* Memory leak related to excess processes, on-board sound card, and/or SLI.
* VATS - related severe performance issues.
* Game sometimes crashes on exiting with a send/don’t send error report.
* Player stuck unable to move, HUD also missing. Possibly due to bumping the ~,which opens the console to input cheats, directly above the TAB.
* Some sound clips get stuck and loop until very far away from source. - fixed by lowering hardwareacceleration in controlpanel > speaker > advanced [Seemingly related to EAX support]
* Mouse acceleration/smoothing cannot be disabled, causes mouse lag and strange acceleration
* Due to an error in installing, certain sound effects (like gun shots/reloading and monster sounds) do not play.
* Game freezes on loading screen when trying to load saved game.
* Game crashes more and more frequently without a trigger the more it is played, resulting in a “log in and crash straight back out” effect after only an hour or so of game time.
* Drop in FPS after playing for an extended period of time. Restarting the game fixes it.
* Sometimes NPCs get stuck on path while advancing toward deployed Frag Mines then instantly appears as though they teleported through it’s triggering area. Additionally, Frag Mines have also been observed warping nearby enemies onto the Mine…which then detonates…spectacularly. No known fix.
* Rebinding The Pip-Boy key is only one way. You can open it with your newly bound key, but must close it with Tab. (May not be on all PCs?)
* Some key bindings are dropped (very rarely) after loading a saved game in midgame.
* Sometimes when firing full auto or pistols as fast as you can click sound of weapon is silent for a few shots.
* With 5.1 surround sounds from behind come through front speakers and vice-versa.
* Streaks, flickers, and graphical corruption on fullscreen with Vista and SLI enabled. Running in Windowed mode solves the problem.
* Named NPCs spontaneously die in Megaton, possibly from falling off walkways or rad exposure near the bomb.
* NPCs appear to float and their head’s rotate around.
* When the Pip-Boy’s color is changed, the color does not change in third person view. (In other words, if color is changed to amber, then the pip boy remains green until activated)
* Turning on radio causes graphics to stutter
* On some configurations, no 16/9 or 16/10 resolutions available in setup
* Cant exit vault 101 - game crash. Loading imported save dont help - game crash after walking anywhere.
PlayStation 3
* Slow or Jerky Movement while in The Vault. (akin to Lag in an Online game), might be fixed by rebooting your PS3
* Graphic Glitch - Officer at Birthday Scene has left eye that stretches out for the entire viewable screen and follows head / eye movement
* Game freezes during GOAT exam, may be circumvented by saving and reloading.
* At the birthday scene, the door in the back opens up after some dialogue, and if you go through, you will be warped to another part of the vault, with no way back to the birthday scene
* Jefferson Memorial Freeze - While traveling or approaching the Jefferson memorial during main quest the PS3 freezes.
* Random objects blocking models both PC and NPC.
Xbox 360
* Cannot read disk during tuning of the “Radio” or any other random event, usually at the beginning of gameplay. The longer you play, the less likely this happens. Restart system fixes.
* As with the PS3 version while approaching the Jefferson Memorial the game freezes. Clearing cache does not work to fix the issue.
* Main quest achievement problems.
* After dying and having the game auto-load, sometimes the primary fire button will get ’stuck.’ By this, you cannot fire by pressing the trigger. It will keep firing automatically every few seconds. So far, the only known way to fix this is to completely shut down the console and restart it.
* After getting into a fight in tenpenny tower and speed travelling away the game locks upon re-entering tenpenny tower. The only fix is to re-start from an earlier save.

I haven’t really had any issues with texture issues or freezing issues… made it past the GOAT test without a problem. The only issue that I really have a problem with is the fact that the game pauses every time some one logs in or off. I like having the notifications and don’t care to turn them on and off whenever I want to play Fallout. Oh well… hopefully we’ll see a patch soon
Oct 31, 2008 at 20:45:33
Ive been playing this game this week and the only issues Ive got is textures loading slow sometimes. I hope they fix the game pausing when someone logs in and out =/
Oct 31, 2008 at 22:00:43
I’m almost done with the PS3 version and only probs I had were the occasional stutter and it was maybe once an hour lasting a split second so I have nothing to complain about.
Oct 31, 2008 at 23:23:00
There are definite problems with the PS3 version, but these problems do not break the game in my opinion. It just doesn’t look as good in general.
Nov 1, 2008 at 02:07:44
Can’t tell you how many clipping issues I’ve had. Even Oblivion was more polished than this - not knocking what is essentially a great game, but damn…was there ANY post-production on this?
You take an IP like Dead Space, now; THAT’S a polished game.
Nov 1, 2008 at 06:49:48
after around 30 hours of gameplay, I have come across only one glitch. the game pauses for a couple of seconds whenever a friend goes on or offline. That’s it.
The images are crisp, sharp and bright. True Hi-Def quality at 720p
I really don’t know where people get all this nonsense about poor graphics quality
Nov 1, 2008 at 07:29:43
I’ve had this since the launch..and the only problem I’ve had is it freezing a couple of times. I had to do a hard reset.
But I agree with “theturk”…mine looks amazing. Sharp..no slow down..awesome…wait I do have one problem…how the heck do find more ammo and caps ?:)
Nov 1, 2008 at 07:33:34
oh and forgot to mention…the freezing issues…my 360 friends are experiencing the same thing.
Nov 1, 2008 at 09:05:40
Like most people i have really been looking forward to this game. I also experienced a glitch in the goat test ,and the logging in issues.
I dont feel too rattled about it as we all know a patch will be done ,im sure .
But what a great game. And we all need to remember that these people are passionate about what they do and im sure this will be fixed.
As for Graphical differences ? are they that different.
Nov 1, 2008 at 13:34:05
I have had a few Fallout 3 issues with the PS3 version that my friends are not. The whole system locks up, the radio plays on my pip but the screen is froze and I have to restart the system with a hard boot and then the media disc won’t show after I restart. I have had my character jump like a frame glitch from time to time. I’ve had the pause of game while people sign in and out of the network. This issue has only happened with Fallout 3 (I do have Oblivion). My system is going in for a free warranty check just to be safe, however I find it interesting that I never experienced the issue with the GOAT test. What a great game, however I would of rather had a few minor bugs from post production then the major ones that do not allow me to play my $65 game. As a side note Dead Space was a great game and a bar setter for future game realses form any studio…..BUG FREE!
Nov 2, 2008 at 15:59:53
I really like Fallout 3 and hope to see a patch for it soon. It seems that on my ps3 system, my sisters ps3 and my friends ps3 the laser seems to be having a hard time reading the disc. It makes a tons of noise when the game is in play and this only happens with Fallout 3. I am not sure is the disc has coding that tells the system how to read the disc but I feel this may be the reason why the game as freezing issues.
Nov 4, 2008 at 10:35:00
I’ve got the PS3 version and I had a huge problem. After the whole Project Purity thing and the escape through the tunnel. I got Doctor Li to Safety, I was suposed to escort her to the Citadel. Almost got her there and she Vanished, the quest was to lead her there, it never cashed in, and I was stuck.
I didn’t have the foresight to know I needed to keep more than one save, so reverting to what I had didn’t solve anything. unable to progress further = 60 hours of game down the tubes = very very unhappy customer.
Fallout 3 should not have been allowed on the shelves with so many damn bugs. What happened to a time where developers would not let the game out the door unless it was almost spotless? I mean, everyone is letting out games where darn near everyone that has it is experiencing numerous MAJOR bugs. This is what amateur companies do, not big name studios.
Nov 4, 2008 at 11:29:40
I am hearing now that the 360 version is causing the RRoD to occur
Nov 4, 2008 at 14:46:45
yh myn freezes weneva i try to load the courtyard just outside galaxy radio. this is a major blow as i cant even leave the building. i agree that they shuldnt of let it out with so many bugs
Nov 4, 2008 at 15:52:45
My buddy and I actually both called them and complained, Im almost tempted to return mine and the limited strat guide for LBP and pay off MK VS DC
Nov 5, 2008 at 20:16:31
I have the PS3 version and in 2-3 days of playing, I’ve had Fast Traveling cause a complete freeze up 3 times and a VATS initiated battle cause a complete freeze. Waited up to 3 minutes on each freeze (at least 1 minute) with nothing happening. This version is way buggy. I’m hoping for an update, cuz I really like the game, but this is getting ridiculous when I can’t get anywhere.
Nov 6, 2008 at 14:11:12
only problem ive had is the game freezing, ever since i came out of rivet city when i head towards the washington monument from their or from the other side after fast travelling round it the game just freezes, hopefully they’ll bring out a patch for this soon as it prevents me getting to the other end of the ship too and i want the bonus for finding the true history of rivet city
Nov 7, 2008 at 03:29:34
YEah my fallout 3 stuffs up during the purification mission thing where dr Li disapears…. i am wonder can i continue mission without her or should is there no other option exept to wait for a patch to come out?
Nov 7, 2008 at 18:13:29
Well, this game does rock, haven’t had many if any clipping issues, don’t know why. My main and big big bloody issue is the Jefferson Memorial bug. Every time I approach the JM my PS3 crashes. Have to power it off and on, no XMB access, nothing. EVERY TIME. So I can’t continue with the story until Bethesda release a patch addressing these issues, fanbloodytastic. =/
Nov 8, 2008 at 20:49:25
here are some more known bugs on a PS3. looked everywhere and its pretty rare to find, if anywhere.
reilly’s compound (while speaking to reilly) with radio in background makes u skip thru 50% of the dialogues without any control. also, this tends to happen (game automatically skipping thru spoken dialogues) whenever you’ve been playing for +3hours or theres a radio nearby (not your pipboy radio)
other bugs and glitches included models of guns not appearing on npcs, random trash and interactables “loading and landing” half in walls, in the air, invisible, etc…
lets see what else i’ve encountered…. hmmm…. *thinks for a minute*
nothing anything major i can think of. just the annoying sound of things “landing” when areas load. grabbing something off a shelf and every unit drops a little. getting stuck in some rocks. hostile npcs running away cuz they cant hit u because your on a certain rock…
and then the usual bugs everyone already listed here.
i dont think the Jefferson memorial freezes for me, but im not sure if ive been there yet. if you visit the JM before escorting doct li out of project purity, then no JM freeze for me (knock on wood)
whats strange is during the long 3-7hours of gameplay i put into it in a single sitting, its either the vats lag/freeze bug, if not, its the automatically dialogue skip bug. sometimes its neither.
and for the record, i have 82hours of gameplay ^_^
Nov 8, 2008 at 20:56:23
also, its a shame. i really love the fallout series. i was thinking highly of this one being game of the year. after second thought of all these bugs and glitches for every platform, and for more than 50% gamers.. it should NOT make game of the year.
OH, i almost forgot… dont get me started on glitches for infinite caps/xp, or good/bad karma. ive em all by my lonesome.
Nov 9, 2008 at 17:40:25
Sent Dogmeat to wait at the vault door and never saw him again… that sucked. Had some problems with freezing, but they usually unfroze after a minute or 2. One day it froze hard and now my PS3 wont read any of my games or movies. Is it possible for a game to screw up the blu-ray player? If so I think Bethesda should pay my $150 fee for the repair. I have never had a problem with any game or movie until now. WTF?
Nov 10, 2008 at 15:17:42
It seems now it is possible to download patches for your console, game studios are using this as an excuse to release faulty products with the promise of a patch later. What about the people without broadband? Tough?? I have had numerous bugs (gfx glitches, lockups, freezes, physics errors) and it ruins what is otherwise an awesome game. A governing body should control those companies that release faulty products as with most other sectors. Shame on Bethesda/ZeniMax.
Nov 10, 2008 at 18:59:45
ive had the same problem with the courtyard outside the radio station (on the way to replace the dishes) completely annoyying.
i hope they have a patch released soon cuz i just started to enjoy this game. all the possibilities and ways and means of progressing. gud stuff but piss-take freezing :@
Nov 10, 2008 at 20:22:56
REPLYING TO:Sent Dogmeat to wait at the vault door and never saw him again… that sucked. Had some problems with freezing, but they usually unfroze after a minute or 2. Yea I’ll have my system back from warranty repair after 10 months of FLAWLESS gaming, mind you 16 different games including Oblivion. I believe FO3 wrecked my system, it no longer played any media since I placed FO3 in the system and yes I tried ALL the trouble shooting fixes. I don’t know WTF Bethesda was thinking when releasing this game with so many bugs. Perhaps a govern system like RAMUS73 suggested is need to protect us buyers. Patching seems to be an easy fix to rush out a uncompleted game to make a deadline, I mean I am greatful patching is there, mistakes happen but I wouldn’t buy a car and expect a transmission replacement in a week because it can be done. That f@#* sh@*t should work! Patches are for damn opps that sucks her let me fix it not for, well….its not done but well release it to make a deadline and release a patch later. Now i have $65 of plastic to look at.
F03 is an awesome game Bethesda makes great RPG’s but PLEASE, make them so they work. FO3 will NOT go back in my repaired system until a solid patch is out nor will I buy another game from Bethesda until it has been out for weeks no matter how awesome it may be.
Nov 10, 2008 at 20:26:33
Oh yea… and I have had all the other issues with the exception of the G.O.A.T. issue. I have even seen guns sitting in mid air to be collected :-/
I hope know the time it takes to code and weed trough game coding that Bethesda is working 3 full shifts to get it fixes A.S.A.P.! WITH 4.7 MILLION COPIES SOLD
Nov 10, 2008 at 20:30:03
Yup same problem with me and the JM .
I tried switching my active quest to something else and walking there .
I tried Walking there from different angles
I tried fast travelling directly to it.
Crashes every time . Please fix this !!!
Nov 11, 2008 at 12:03:40
For the PS3 (EU-Version).
I was kind of shocked by the amount of bugs I have encountered during gameplay. Here are some of them:
#1- In vault 87 I opened a door and it passed through the floor above so when I got upstairs it wss visible.
#2- By the Takuma Park I got stuck between rocks with enemies nearby and could not fast travel away.
#3- When editing my appearace in Megaton (Robot) and the broken part of Rivet City the interface disappears. You can change things but no preview.
#4- Constant freezes in some areas. Some lag is to be expected but not repeated total freeze of the game. Sone areas are worse than others. The only thing that works is turning off the ps3.
#5- Entering the statesman hotel through the hospital (Over the broken signal tower) enables the player to meet the band of rangers on the roof before Kelly in the reception (Who gives you the quest to find them). I don`t know if this bug is caused by this but it might be a rason.
When talking to the Rangers on the roof all dialogue goes really really quick. there is no sound and you barely get all the info. The dialogue boxes change without you having anything to say. This happens with every ranger, and also with Kelly and when they get back to their compound…That quest was totally useless and unplayable.
#6- Never got any options about repairing robots in Big Town (Skill at about 50).
#7- The hours of the day are just way too quick…Its not really playable in the pitch darkness…but guess this is more a complaint than a bug.
#8- After helping Bryan Wilks in Grayditch I took some time before visiting Rivet City, finding his foster parents and getting back to him. When I tries to find him again he was gone…looked everywhere in Grayditch. Also looked in Rivet City and Super Duper Mart area…bug?
I sort of lost my fallout universe illusion because of these bugs. I could see through the falseness in a way and
my want to play diminishes…sad really. Loved both FO1 and FO2 !Interplay…come back to us.
Nov 11, 2008 at 12:11:25
Double post..sorry. Remembered more:
#9- When helpin the people at the Temple of Union I was supposed to meet the leaser Hannibal Hamlin at The Lincoln memorial. I fast travelled to the museum and walked to the memorial. Killed one remaining raider (killed all of them before), but there was no other people there. So I waited..did some other stuff and came back directly to the memorial this time. But no Hannibal or Caleb…Did they walk the distance and get KILLED by a deathclaw or something?
#10- I have experienced weapons getting stuck above the dead enemy (in the air). The Models of dead mutants sometims fall in silly ways too…crouchd forward and stuff.
Nov 12, 2008 at 10:59:14
I have a problem with dissappearing NPCs. Walter the guy at the Water Treatment plant has vanished without a trace, and Sonora the leader of the regulators ran outside of the compound HQ building because a giant radscorpion was out there and promptly dissapeared. Last night the dialouge skipping happened really badly to everyone I talked to. There was almost no voice and most of the text started skipping rapidly.
Nov 12, 2008 at 14:36:55
Yea, Walter vanished on me too, i think the aliens got him
Nov 12, 2008 at 17:05:42
Alrighty, i noticed this issue maybe 3 times, but figured i did something stupid. I sold alot of the stuff i picked up to 3 merchants and ended up with almost 550 caps. i then made my way to rivet city and hit the wait button a few times at the citidel seeing if the NPC you need permission from for power armor just to see if he would pop or not. and when i got to rivet city and tryed to buy some ammo my cap count was a mind boggling Zero caps. I somehow lost over 500 caps. Anyone have a clue or heard this before? PS3 version
Nov 12, 2008 at 17:29:30
Have to say I havn’t had any of these problems on ps3 (besides for friends signing in glich)with 15+ hours put in, but could it be too do with messed up install data as it does ’silently’ install 4.2gb of data at the start, if that is corrupted or insufficient space then it might cause glitches but its only a theory
Nov 14, 2008 at 13:21:04
Its really suck ! I dont know if its my Ps3 or the game itself that f*ck up my console but, when i started the quest wich Treedog asked you to repair a radio relay on the Washington monument, you encounter many mutant, so i began killed them with the VATS, but the game freeze, so i waited like 1 or 2 minute, the game worked again but freeze definitively like 5 minute later, i restarted the ps3 and managed to finish the quest like saved every 2 minute and restart the ps 3 when itsa freeze, but later the game begin to frezzed anywhere so i get piss off and start play GTA 4 again, but you know what ? GTA 4 freeze like 5 minute after i started playing….. and its like 4 month that ive being playing it and its never happened…. Do someone know what happened to my ps 3 lolor got the same problem ? I purchase it 1 year and 2 week ago, so for the 1 years warranty its i bit too late…… Sony really got a great timing ….
Nov 14, 2008 at 13:23:26
I dont think so Nick… i erase the game data except the profile and i got the same problem plus loading getting very slowed…
Nov 14, 2008 at 14:20:52
*SPOILER*
I got to the part of the purification quest where the enclave just ambushed u at the Jefferson memorial now I’m stuck at a loading screen between the downstairs and main floor, i want to wait for patch but this is ridiculous. i loved this game right away but i find myself trading it in for cod5. THANKS BETHESDA. they pretty much released a beta version and we are their testers.
Nov 15, 2008 at 05:05:00
Replying to ACEZ. #8 - did you check the house next to the shack that has Lesko’s computer?
And… all the other stuff… well, play the pc version!
Nov 16, 2008 at 00:14:58
My Pc is very old … that actually why i buy a PS3 lol
Nov 16, 2008 at 13:59:52
I can deal with the odd glitch here and there but I am stuck inside the Jefferson with absolutely no way out.
Everytime I leave the game freezes up.
I have no saves outside of this building.
25 hours of side quests and I can’t do anything.
To those who comment about some of these problems not being a big deal would you please hit yourself repeatedly in the head with a baseball bat until dead so you don’t breed and thin out the gene pool anymore than it is.
Nov 16, 2008 at 14:54:19
Lol G that a good idea
But could the source of the problem be the firmwere ?
Nov 16, 2008 at 15:14:01
The biggest issue I have had is it periodically freezings normally during combat. Not sure why since at first I thought it an overheating problem. But then it happened more and more while just playing for a few minutes.
Another issue I have is after I finished the mission in Arefu both the West chick and the Water Processor guy dissapeared. They are there in the game my wife is playing but not for me. That is a lot of scrap metal piled up since I never went into underworld. Will have to do that if the next play through they dissapear again.
Nov 16, 2008 at 22:43:29
I have had some problems with Fallout 3, such as the occassional freezing (only about 3 times). My only problem is that when I start a new game then my old save gets erased. The same thing happens when I play Saints Row 2 as well.
Nov 17, 2008 at 06:33:21
I’ve already finished the game and this is my 3rd time replaying.. I had the same problem after the taft tunnels in jefferson’s memorial that is after exiting the tunnels, I immediately travel back to my suite to unload my stock and when i got back to the citadel, all I see is doctor Li walking back and forth by the side of the citadel. She wouldn’t talk to the intercom. I haven’t had any saves before this cause I was depending on the quick saves which will overwrite my previous gameplay. Real Bump!
Nov 18, 2008 at 10:31:57
PS3 version here. Annoying bugs for me thus far:
Complete system lockup in VATS 3 or 4 times thus far.
Frame rate slowdowns, stuttering
Many clipping issues - the most annoying is a skill book halfway under a generator in ranger compound. Checked the guide book, and it is supposed to be on top of the generator. Can’t target it to grab it, and going back to a previous save didn’t fix the clipping.
On another section a skill book wasn’t in a place the guide said it would be. I re-loaded from last save, and went back in the room, and then it was there.
Nov 19, 2008 at 20:08:16
the only thing iv got is the the converstions are sped up and i cant read or hear it
Nov 19, 2008 at 20:54:04
oh and aswell i got Jericho to join me on my quest and he has randomly disapeared
Nov 20, 2008 at 19:52:14
Just want to warn people, This Game is Great but I have suffered what is now becoming a Major Issue. Full PS3 Crash. It seems that Fallout 3 Can, Not Will, cause your PS3 to be Bricked. I have had to send of my PS3 and have it repaired (actually exchanged), and I can almost 100% confirm it was Fallout 3 that caused it. It seems that sometimes when the game crashes it corrupts the PS3 and it will either not come on at all, video will stutter then System Locks up, colours invert… then Locks up, will play another game for 5-10 minutes… then locks up, will try to format… then locks up… this is a real issue and it carries great concern, Bethesda is a Great Company, but this Glitch is a MAJOR PROBLEM it is costing people AU$315 (US$160, I think) and they have not recalled the product nor posted an Official Message of Warning. They state they are working on a patch but that will only help the people with PS3’s that are Online, those with unconnected PS3’s are still at risk and to make matters worse they are bundling Firmware 2.42 which has it’s own issues with bricking consoles (I had Latest Firmware btw, I am speaking for those who have complained about 2.42 in other Forums).
Nov 20, 2008 at 23:37:44
If the problem is what you said, i want a f*cking payback of Bethesda…. i just rent the game to see if its was godd to buy….
Nov 22, 2008 at 11:52:31
I haven’t had any of these problems Yet
I play on the ps3
and i have beating the game with out problems
But when someone sign’s in or out it gets annoying
Nov 22, 2008 at 15:53:00
can not get past skill level 20, game still works fine but skill points stop. Is this a problem or do your skill perks end at level 20.
Nov 23, 2008 at 03:28:06
I couldn`t get past skill level 20 eiter. Well I got to level 20 and one point towards 21 and no more. Figured there was a limit or something. Im replaying now and figured I`d use the “Here and Now” Perk on level 20. That way I get to level 21 right away.
Im having problems with Dogmeat, he keeps disappearing on me. Really annoying. Sometimes it says he is dead when I exit buildings with him. One time the mutant follower I had got stuck in a shed-roof exiting the house in the constantine base. He died too… Now I just keep dogmeat in my tenpenny suite…as a house dog.
Kevlaur: I searched there, but didn`t find him. I played pc games for several years, but Im not willing to spend that much money on games and hardware anymore. The ps3 is cheap and universal..So im sticking with this buggy game. Although I despise the bugs.

got the ps3 version, had the following problems
game locks up - this seems to happen A LOT, doesnt happen in area transition, happens in open areas
getting stuck between rocks or surroundings - have to reload which is a pain
the haircut screen has no preview - good thing i have a photographic memory
raining robots/dead enemys when fast traveling - is kinda funny the first few times
texture details vanish - leaving the entire wasteland with a really crappy backup texture appearing, loosing all detail no visible radiation pits etc
enemy clipping issues - have run across many dogs in the wasteland, who are stuck underground with just the head visible, but unable to move
kinda dissapointed as i was looking forward to this game for a while
a third house (neutral) would have been appreciated aswell

I’m stuck in the statesman hotel doing the Ranger’s quest. I’ve been looking for an exit for hours but I swear all the stairwells are blocked! Also Walter has disappeared after I came back from Arefu… have also experienced freezing during VATS…
Should I keep playing or do you reckon it will wreck the ps3?
Please tell me how to exit Statesman!!
Dec 5, 2008 at 09:43:36
I thought I was trapped in statesman too, but there is a stairway upwards towards the roof. From there there is another way down to the lobby. But pick up a fizzion battery on your way.

just a heads-up never get the pc version unless you have alienware or something. the only game that has been worse to my computer was gears; it freezes about every 15 minutes or less, especially with VATS and anything related to fire (fire ants, etc)
i am awaiting the ps3 version for christmas my brother wanted the pc version but it turned out sucky. i would avoid the pc version at all costs. i just cant wait to play interrupted for more than half an hour, because it is to me basically a bleak modernized version of oblivion as far as gameplay, graphics, and is really quite epic
i also agree with all of the dead space praise, no bugs at all! but fallout is overall better it has comprable graphics and is longer, more expansive, better RPG
Dec 9, 2008 at 06:55:59
i wrote the “good” creators of the game to find the customer service department are about as educated as they are useful….none at all im my information i clearly stated i was in China when that information was requested it took them 8 days to reply to my email by telling me “sorry for help in europe please contact our euro help support at….. needless to say i wrote back asking someone to educate mr.Mike M
just a complete waste of time…..the game itself is great i love it, i have never had the pleasantry of the goat freezing, but i have had radio glitches and all sorts of freezing glitches …..i thought they paid beta testers to do this so we wouldn’t have to
im never buying a product from them again

Weirdest thing happened to me for the ps3 version of fallout 3 a character in my game disappeared (Walter from the water treatment plant in megaton) and now I have all this scrap metal. along with the game freezing. but back to my first point. have characters ever disappeared for anyone else

So I finally finished all the missions, and explored every single location (with the help of the guide book).
Aside from the clipping & framerate issues I mentioned above, I experienced one almost show stopper on a mission.
Waters of Life quest you are supposed to get Dr. Li into the Citadel. One NPC that was traveling in the group freaked out at the end for no apparant reason, which prevented the rest from taking another step. I had to resolve the issue by killing said NPC - even though the goal of the mission was to protect the whole group. If that didn’t work, I probably would have had to start the whole game over.
On the freezing in VATS, when I got to level 20 later in the game, and went out exploring, VATS started freezing often (every several minutes to half hour of play). This was a concern because I had to reboot the PS3 each time. I started to worry that maybe the game is abusing my system with the lockups occurring so frequently.
I like the game, and would play it again - but not unless there is a patch for this stuff. If they don’t have a patch for it, I will not play it again out of concern it may damage the system with how often it locks up the PS3.

I got the patch but i am still having problems with the game freezing. Maybe My save data is corrupted

Dec 26, 2008 at 11:49:37
Has anyone tried saving their character onto an external hard drive (or flash drive) and transfering it to another ps3? I seem to have done this successfully, except now I can’t save my character when I start playing it…anyone know what to do? Thanks,
Chris

every time i turn on my game it just fine BUT whenever i go to continue it freezes…… and its making my ps3 all weird wtf do i do?
Dec 27, 2008 at 08:59:42
on the ps3 version i have suffered:
* After dying and having the game auto-load, sometimes the primary fire button will get ’stuck.’ By this, you cannot fire by pressing the trigger. It will keep firing automatically every few seconds. So far, the only known way to fix this is to completely shut down the console and restart it.
* Game freezes during GOAT exam, may be circumvented by saving and reloading.
* Occasional Crash
* Control Calibration, the right stick will only turn right, regardless of how you move it, solved my restarting the WHOLE game or REINSTALLING
Dec 28, 2008 at 07:26:19
The only glitch I’m noticing (aside from the easy to fix goat bugs) is that all my conversations auto skip now so I can’t read what people say because it just skips all of the convos. What an annoying bug.

I’m just about to complete the Reily’s Rangers quest. Every time I attempt to fast travel to Ranger Compound the game freezes. I’ve turned it off and back on twice. I’m about to travel to the closest point and just walk from there.

We were just playing in Hamiltons Hideaway when the scorpian attacked and killed me. When the game reloaded all the controls were wrong - nothing would shoot on VATS, circle wouldnt open the pipboy - the guns would fire when you hit circle. I had done a manual save 20 mins. before, so i thought i could just reload that, WRONG, controls still the same. And the controls you edit through the start button all say they are normal. I assign a key, but it still doesnt work. Any clue whats going on??? There is no way to play the game with the controls stuck like this.

Oh man, where to start with the f*ck*ng bugs in this game, its such a shame, cause the consept is so brilliant, but i think i have had all the issues you all have.. but dunno if this is new to anyone, after beeing in washington monment, every f*ck*ng time i am indoor in the game theres a really loud repeating clicking sound.. and the worst part is i saved before i could make it good again..
this game hasnt been testet at all, i am sure. with all theese bugs and issues my guess is they testet the main guest with an immortal character and then thought “yay, the game works” i dont want my money back, i dont want my time used the game back, i just want this f*ck*ng game to work with no damn issues or bugs or call ‘em what ever the f*ck you want. still a good game, but can defently not be the game of the year! maybe bug of the year!
