TGS 08: Sony Post-TGS Impression Pt.1

We’ve seen what Microsoft has announced to all Japanese gamers last night and from the people of the press, some are impressed and some aren’t. With Sony not really having a big press conference this year at TGS, at least they held a small business meeting that will address some things Japanese gamers might want to look out for and of course, this will apply to us gamers here in the United States. Kinda.

Let’s take a look on what are the big announcements from Sony:

1. 80GB SKU Bundle Announced for 39989 Yen
This announcement is no surprise to us all here in the United States as this was announced a while ago. The bundle they announced will include either GT5 or LittleBigPlanet at the same price.

2. PS Store on the PSP
Finally, the Playstation Store will finally hit the PSP after a long while. This news could benefit all PSP owners wanting to purchase games right on their PSP directly.

3. PSP Games Will Soon Be Downloadable
We know this is coming. This could be a good thing to some of us since most preferred online shopping than having the physical item in their hand.

4. PS2 Emulation Rumor Killed
SCEE has killed the rumor on the Playstation 2 Emulator that will be implemented on the new firmware they’re releasing. Sorry folks!

5. PSP to PS3 Interaction
First game to implement this is Resistance: Retribution

There you have it, I must say that these announcements aren’t really surprising at all and this is well expected. The PSP Downloadable games have finally been confirmed that it will take place really soon but the sad news about the PS2 Emulation has been killed. Personally, I am still not giving up on the PS2 Emulation…

If we were to compare the presentation of SCE and Microsoft in this year’s TGS, they are both average for us US Consumers because most of the things they announced have already been announced except for a few things like Halo Recon, and PSP PS Store.

It’s been said that there will be more on Sony’s side so we will see on how well they’ll pull it off this year.

Score 7.4/10

Games to look out for:
- LittleBigPlanet
- Quantum Theory
- Tekken 6
- White Knight Story
- Patapon 2
