Blue Dragon Plus Hands On Impression

Blue Dragon Plus is the latest entry in the Blue Dragon series that was recently released in Japan and coming to North America and Europe next March. We finally had a chance to get hands on with the Japanese copy of Blue Dragon Plus and from our hours of gameplay that we spent in the game, we are impressed by it. If you are thinking Blue Dragon Plus plays like its XBOX 360 version, you are mistaken.

Blue Dragon Plus is a real time strategy game that utilize your DS’s touch screen. If you have played Final Fantasy XII Revanant Wings, there are no mistakes that you’ll hate this game. The game plays similar to Final Fantasy XII. You point to the characters you want to control, and attack the mecha robots simultanously.

Past characters from the game including Zolda, Maru Maro, Shu, and Zabo will be the first set of characters you’ll be using. The game is divided into diffferent mission objectives and strategy is really a must in this game because there are certain ways to defeat the boss. Look in the map and you’ll find a way to defeat certain bosses.

I am not going to spoil the story but Blue Dragon Plus takes place a year after the events of Blue Dragon for the XBOX 360. A mysterious dragon shadow appeared in the very eyes of King Jibral and Zola and they must find whatever mystery the shadow surrounds. It is not necessary to play the first game to understand this one as you’ll be briefed on what happened.

Overall, from the parts we’ve played so far, Blue Dragon Plus is looking to be a great addition to your RPG library. The graphics aren’t HD but the CG cutscenes are worth looking at. Blue Dragon Plus is coming out in North America and Europe in March 2009 but keep checking back here at GamersPlatform for more inside news and information about the game.
