I warned many about how good The World Ends With You was going to be, and not many listened. What happened? They were left with a very disappointed DS system.
Now with the power of the internets I recommend DS owners two powerful titles. Hopefully everyone got a little wiser this time around.
Time Hollow - Konami 9/23
Remember the Phoenix Wright series? Well this is nothing like that but it is a point-and-click adventure.
You play as misplaced boy named Ethan and you must iron out the past in the theme of eight days. You are presented concise flashbacks all throughout your journey and it is your job to fill in the bare, and to make sure the troubles of the past don’t transpire in the future.
What makes this unique? The Hollow Pen. It’s a device the player uses to illustrate a gap in the universe to alter events that have happened openly in the past. Look for Time Hollow this coming month, for it ought be a sleeper hit.
Chrono Trigger DS - Square 11/27
Remakes and re-releases are a common practice nowadays. The film industry is best known for it. Simply look at Batman Begins, Titanic, and, yes, even Scarface. Same applies for the gaming world. The video game industry is catching up using XBLA, PSN, and Virtual Console as tools to launch the hits of yore. Square Enix, on the other hand, has embattled the handheld market as its stage of preference for many of its archetypal games.
With Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy being some of the most recent revivals, Chrono Trigger joins its mates on the Nintendo DS on November 25. That is the official North American release date while Japan gets it two days later on November 27.
As a refresher, take a look at the crew that made up this game back in 1995: Artiste Yosunori Mitsuda, Character Designer Akira Toriyama, and Final Fantasy originator Hironobu Sakaguchi. That’s right, it’s a pre-order.
