The game is detailed in the UK’s official Nintendo magazine and shows off a lot of what the game is about and its features. The game will feature 18 modes, 10 of which are completely new and will utilize a variety of controls, such as point-and-click and balance board, and you can play online with up to 6 people. The balance board has also been officially confirmed as an option, although I think this will mostly be a gimmick and not lengthen the game to a large degree.
The modes are looking really cool, but from just looking at screens, it is kind of hard to tell exactly what each is. One looks like you have to fill in a shape, and whoever can do that the best, wins. Another looks like a co-op mode where more than one player works on the same board, which is similar to a Dr. Mario mode, so it would make sense. And there are 16 more modes, some of which use items or interesting control options, so you can be sure there will be some crazy ones that are completely different from each other, but still retain that standard Tetris gameplay. It’ll be interesting to see what all the game has to offer.
The game looks good though, and it looks like all the different modes will definitely give players a reason to pick up yet another iteration of Tetris, with online play keeping players coming back for more and more.
