E3 08: Borderlands Impressions

This game is just…wow. This is the game I’m looking forward to the most to tell you the truth. In my opinion it looks like Oblivion with guns, except a lot better (and I love The Elder Scrolls series).

To start off, the game looks like its going to have a very big world. Possibly, and hopefully, bigger than Oblivion’s. You can choose to do the missions assigned to you, or you can just go out and travel the world. One of the best parts of Borderlands is that it has Online Co-op, and you can do EVERYTHING in the game with a buddy if you really want to. The game is somewhat different from our average 1st person shooter. In Borderlands your character can gain levels. Every level you get to choose which stat you would like to raise (accuracy, power, speed, etc.). Which makes Borderlands play like both an RPG and an FPS, which you don’t come across very often.

The thing that I think makes this game so awesome, is how many guns you can find throughout the world. The game itself includes over half a million weapons in its entire arsenal! This means that you can travel the world and you will rarely ever find the same weapon twice, which I think is absolutely awesome. Along with the weapons in the game, there are also vehicles to choose from. I have only seen one vehicle, but I’m sure there will be plenty more to ride around in.

The graphics of Borderlands are looking spectacular. The landscape is looking extremely good, the mountains, the caves, just everything looks great. Another cool thing is that no two guns will look exactly alike.

Overall, Borderlands looks like it’s going to play like Oblivion, and hopefully will have a bigger world. I like how your character can gain levels throughout the game, RPG’s always seem to keep me hooked longer. The addiction of Co-op is going to be very fun, lets just hope that the developers don’t screw it up. The fact that there is over 500,000 guns throughout the entire game is absolutely insane and is sure to keep gamers looking for the “ultimate weapon”. I also like how they added vehicles into the mix, that was one of Oblivion’s major downfalls, it took so long to walk from one place to another. The graphics of the game are looking extremely good as well, the landscape is looking amazing, and I like how no two guns will look alike. Borderlands is looking great and, as of right now, it is the game I want to come out the most. We’ll give you more information when the game is released sometime next year.

One response. Wanna say something?

    Awesome!!
I love the co-op! My husband and I both have PS3 units and it’s so difficult to find decent co-op games to play!
