Nintendo also showed off Animal Crossing today for the Wii. The game appears to be relatively the same, but one new feature is the fact that you can go leave your town to go and visit the city, where lots of stores will be available to peruse, including an auction house, where you can buy and sell items. You can even catch a show at the theater? Could this be some way to watch game trailers and special content?
It also seems that holidays will play a bigger role, where special events take place, such as trick-or-treating on Halloween and egg hunting on Bunny Day.
With the game though, Nintendo announced their microphone option, the WiiSpeak microphone, which will sit on top of your tv so everyone in the room can communicate, as opposed to just one person. The mic will be sold separately.
Other than those new features that were stated, the game is left relatively the same, where you can create your own clothing patterns and customize your house and town and all that jazz. You can also visit other people’s towns and invite friends to yours, just like in the DS game. You can befriend neighbors and they might move away and everything that you come to expect from an AC title.
Overall, I was pretty much underwhelmed completely by it, as it seems Nintendo hasn’t done much of anything with the franchise. Almost all of the features shown off appear to be the same, as are the graphics. Hopefully, there will be a lot of subtle differences and new events and activities that you can do. I’m just hoping for a little bit more. Maybe the city will hold a few more surprises.
Expect the game to be released this holiday season.
